FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Essential operational, legal, and banking clarifications for producers, financiers, and business affairs executives.
How does Cinedits differ from traditional CAMA agents?
Cinedits is a pure software operating system. We do not act as an escrow bank or hold physical custody of funds. Instead, we integrate directly with your appointed escrow institution (City National Bank, Western Alliance Bank) or legacy CAMA administrator (Freeway, Fintage House) to replace slow manual spreadsheets with real-time, deterministic calculation rules.
Does Cinedits take custody of production or investor capital?
No. Cinedits is strictly non-custodial. All gross receipts remain in regulated escrow accounts at FDIC/PRA-insured commercial banks. Cinedits acts as the calculation and reconciliation layer, dispatching verified disbursement instructions according to the executed waterfall agreement.
Can Cinedits handle cross-collateralized international territories?
Yes. Cinedits’ directed acyclic graph (DAG) accounting engine natively evaluates cross-collateralized distribution territories, corridor caps, currency conversions (USD, EUR, GBP), and distribution fee deductions based on contractual deal memos.
How does Cinedits ensure IFRS 15 and ASC 606 compliance?
Every transaction recorded in Cinedits follows double-entry general ledger principles. License delivery milestones, minimum guarantees (MGs), and overage royalties are recognized strictly according to IFRS 15 / ASC 606 performance obligation rules, backed by SHA-256 cryptographic audit hashes.
How long does it take to onboard an active film slate?
An existing production with executed CAMAs and IFTA agreements can be ingested and modeled in Cinedits within 48 to 72 hours. Our legal ingestion team parses your waterfall tiers, sets corridor caps, and verifies participant ledger nodes before live disbursement.
Can our entertainment attorneys inspect the underlying calculation code?
Yes. Cinedits provides exportable mathematical proofs and verification logs for every disbursement cycle. Counsel can inspect exact formula representations, rounding protocols (IEEE 754 Banker's Rounding), and audit trails before signing off on distributions.
